Meet the Arts & Culture changemakers

Meet the young changemakers shaping the future of arts and culture in Newark - The Creative Influencers!

The Creative Influencers are a passionate group of local teens who are using their creativity to open up arts and cultural opportunities for young people in Newark. Aged 13–17, they meet once a month to plan and support projects that bring the community to life.

In recent months, they’ve helped run terrarium-making and planting activities at Newark Beach, volunteered over 100 hours at community events, including ushering for the theatre production Blood Brothers at the Palace Theatre, and even had an epic sleepover at the National Civil War Centre!

Thank you for listening!

I lead a team called the Creative Influencers. They're a group of diverse young people (aged 13 - 17) from the Newark & Sherwood area. They use their creative skills to help make arts and heritage more accessible and relevant for other young people. They joined together as a team last year and have since used their performance skills and community outreach program to raise hundreds of pounds for charity, create protest banners calling for change, visit cities around the UK to experience some of the best live theatre and museums / galleries, created multi-lingual social media content which has attracted thousands of views on TikTok and Instagram. They've also helped to plan a sleepover event in the National Civil War Centre museum, curated a temporary exhibition after visiting local archives, and volunteered as ushers for theatre shows at the Palace Theatre Newark.
